GIR Policies
Amateur players are eligible to participate in GolfInRed events!
The USGA has a $1,000 CASH limit that an amateur golfer can receive per competition without forfeiting their amateur status.
This means that if an amateur golfer were to win a competition, they could accept a cash prize of up to $1,000 in value, when playing in a scratch competition only. Any prize or compensation exceeding this limit would jeopardize their amateur status.
Caddies are allowed for GOLFINRED Tour events. In riding events, space to ride with a player may be limited based on (2) cart minimum per group and/or host club rules (if other players in the same group bring caddies as well).
Spectators are welcome at GOLFINRED Tour events. Spectators are limited to walking only based on host club policies/rules so also make sure to ask these questions prior to arriving at event.
Motorized Carts ARE included with the entry fee. (unless otherwise noted)
Pull carts are acceptable…players will need to provide their own pull cart.
NOTE: Based on host club policies, a limit of (2) carts per group may be required.
Slacks or shorts are permitted during tournament play and practice rounds.
Denim/jeans will NOT be allowed at host facilities, unless otherwise posted.
*Host Club policy may require additional ‘standards’ be met.
As a professional or amateur golfer, the GOLFINRED Tour expects all players to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Club throwing, offensive language, destruction of property, and any other conduct deemed by the Tournament Committee to be unbecoming of a professional will not be tolerated.
Offenses and Penalties are as follows:
Club Throwing: Disqualification after Two Verbal Warnings from Tour Official
Offensive Language: Disqualification after Two Verbal Warnings from Tour Official
Destruction of Property: Immediate Disqualification
NOTE: Any disqualification based on these offenses may result in temporary suspension or expulsion from the tour.
Any questions please see Tournament Director on-site or contact the Executive Director.
Tee yardages will be played from GolfInRed Tees unless otherwise noted by Executive Director.
25% of the full field + ties after 18 holes have been completed.
Amateur players are allowed a maximum payout of $1,000
The use of distance-measuring devices will be permitted in ALL GOLFINRED Tour events. The device must be used to ONLY measure distance. If a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of local rule.
PENALTY FOR BREACH: Two Strokes per occurrence.
Mobile cell phones may be used to “live score”, contact an official, check the leaderboard, check the weather forecast or used as an electronic distance-measuring device.
Other electronic devices such as radios, ipods, MP3 players, televisions, and the like, are NOT permitted. Any use of such device during the stipulated round will result in disciplinary action and possible DISQUALIFICATION. (Use is defined as the device being on at any time during the stipulated round).
Scores will be collected after designated holes
*The Real-Time updated leaderboard will be available to view but will be Unofficial*
SIGNED SCORECARD is defined as the Official Scoring reference.
Play for GOLFINRED events are governed by the USGA Rules of Golf, its Decisions and the 2023 GOLFINRED Conditions of Competition. Disregard local rules on the scorecard or any other posted local rules. In addition, the following Supplementary Rules of Play apply:
YARDAGE/GREEN READING BOOKS: USGA approved yardage/green reading books are allowed to use during tournament play.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES: A player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If a player uses a distance measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions (gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach.
ONE BALL RULE IN EFFECT: A player must play with the same brand, make and model golf ball that he starts a round with.
PENALTY AREAS: Margin of penalty areas defined by red or yellow paint and/or stake to stake.
OUT OF BOUNDS: Out of bounds is defined by white stakes, perimeter fencing, walls, white dots, white lines tying white stakes to perimeter fencing, the inside edge of paved public road curbing and the non-golf course side of the water’s edge of the hazard when tied into by white stakes and/or the inside edge of paved public road curbing. NOTE: A ball which crosses a public road is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the golf course.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR: Defined by white lines. French drains are ground under repair.
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO THE PUTTING GREEN: Relief may be taken. In addition, if a ball lies through the green and an immovable obstruction on or within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two-club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted. Relief is also available if the player’s ball lies on the putting green and an immovable obstruction within two club-lengths of the putting green intervenes on his line of putt. Relief may be taken in accordance with the previous statement, except that it must be placed at the nearest point of relief, which may be off the putting green.
ACCIDENTAL MOVEMENT OF A BALL ON A PUTTING GREEN: When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 13.1. This Local Rule applies only when the player’s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.
DOUBT AS TO PROCEDURE: When during play of a hole a competitor who is doubtful of his rights or procedure may, without penalty, play a second ball in accordance with Rule 20-1. The competitor must announce that he intends to play two balls and which ball he wishes to count if the Rules permit. The competitor MUST report the facts of the situation to the Rules Committee before returning his scorecard. If the competitor fails to do so, the competitor is disqualified.
PACE OF PLAY: Acceptable pace has been set at 4:28. Any group over this pace and out of position will be warned and timed back into position. Penalties will be applied in accordance with the GOLFINRED Pace of Play Policy.
